The Calectro UG8-ZD-230 is a powerful and advanced duct smoke detector with display, specially developed for safe and reliable smoke detection in air ducts. Thanks to DIBt approval (Z-78.6-253), the integrated alarm memory system, Modbus communication, automatic sensitivity adjustment, and an IP65 housing, this model meets the highest fire protection requirements for HVAC installations.
The included Power Sampling Tube (PST195) ensures optimal smoke detection without requiring the full duct to be traversed. In addition, the UG8-ZD-230 uses a clear display showing the degree of contamination in percent—a unique advantage for service and inspection.

What is the UG8-ZD-230?
The UG8-ZD-230 is a 230V duct smoke detector with display, DIBt approval and Modbus communication. It detects smoke in ventilation ducts and controls, among other things, fire dampers or fans.
What supply voltage does the UG8-ZD-230 use?
The UG8-ZD-230 operates on 230V AC ±10%.
What does the alarm memory (alarm memory) do?
In the event of a smoke alarm, the alarm relays remain active even if the smoke has cleared and the power supply has failed and returned. The memory remains active until you consciously reset it using the reset button (approx. 3 seconds).
How do I reset the alarm or memory?
Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds, or create a short circuit between terminals 9 and 10.
What is the function of the electronic airflow detection?
The UG8-ZD-230 monitors the airflow in the duct. If the airflow is too low, an “LF” message appears and the low-flow relay switches.
Which ventilation speeds are permitted?
The device operates correctly at air velocities between 1 and 20 m/s.
Can I use the UG8-ZD-230 with Modbus?
Yes, the detector has an RS485 Modbus interface (read-only).
Which sampling tubes can I use?
Standard PST195 (included). Optional ST280, ST580 or ST-EXTEND.
Is the device suitable for insulated or small ducts?
Yes, but the mounting bracket UG-MB-8 must then be used (hole size Ø 51 mm).
Does the device need to be insulated in cold environments?
Yes, in cold attics or for outdoor installation the device must be insulated with UG-COVER-75 to prevent condensation.
When do I get a service/contamination alarm?
In the event of heavy contamination, the LED lights up yellow and the display shows “SA”. The detector must then be cleaned or replaced.
How do I test the UG8-ZD-230?
Via the test opening in the cover with SOLO A5 test spray. Don’t forget to replace the plastic plug afterwards.
