The Calectro UG8-E-24 is an optical duct smoke detector with a service alarm and built-in control unit, 24V. Free rotation in any direction.
Description
The UG8 Uniguard is designed to detect smoke in ventilation ducts and consists of a smoke detector and duct housing system, specially designed for optimal airflow through the detector.
You can mount the UG8 on either side of the duct. The UG8 is supplied with a rotatable section that can be mounted to the ventilation duct using the selected Venturi pipe. It also has a “FLOW” arrow for easy installation in the correct direction for the airflow. The direction of the arrow must correspond with the direction of airflow in the duct.
The detector housing, for which a patent has been applied, has cable entries and can be rotated in any direction depending on the mounting location. Both the detector housing and the terminal covers are equipped with snap closures for quick access.
Relays
• Two alarm relays to control, for example, fire dampers or to start/stop fans.
• A service alarm relay and a low-flow alarm relay, which indicate when maintenance is required before a false alarm occurs, and also when the airflow in the duct is low or when the UG8 is mounted in an unsuitable location in the duct.
• A system fault relay, which indicates faults in the smoke detector circuit.
The detector has an intelligent monitoring circuit that continuously checks and adjusts sensitivity for optimal performance throughout its lifetime. When the detector can no longer compensate for contamination and a false alarm is imminent, a service alarm is issued.
The detector is provided with a bayonet fitting, allowing easy installation and removal. If a system fault occurs in the UG8, e.g., if a detector is removed, a yellow LED on the PCB begins to flash and the system fault relay is deactivated. In the event of a system fault, other relays are also deactivated.
Finally, the UG8 has various accessories such as Calectro’s ST280 and ST580 Venturi pipes, as well as the extension tube ST-EXTEND. Altogether, this provides a comprehensive range of installation options.
