The Calectro UG8-E-24 is an optical duct smoke detector with a service alarm and built-in control unit, 24V. Free rotation in any direction.

The UG8 Uniguard is designed to detect smoke in ventilation ducts and consists of a smoke detector and duct housing system, specifically engineered for optimal airflow through the detector.
You can mount the UG8 on either side of the duct. The UG8 includes a rotatable section that can be mounted to the ventilation duct using the chosen Venturi tube. It also features a “FLOW” arrow to facilitate correct installation in the direction of airflow. The arrow direction must correspond to the direction of the airflow in the duct.
The detector housing, for which a patent is pending, has cable entries and can be rotated in any direction depending on the constraints of the mounting location. Both the smoke detector housing and the connection covers are fitted with snap closures, among other features, for quick access.
Relays
• Two alarm relays to, for example, operate fire dampers or start/stop fans.
• A service alarm relay and a low-airflow alarm relay, which indicate when maintenance is required before a false alarm occurs, and also when the airflow in the duct is low or the UG8 is mounted in an unsuitable position within the duct.
• A system fault relay, which indicates faults in the smoke detector circuit.
The detector includes an intelligent monitoring circuit that continuously checks and adjusts sensitivity for optimal functionality throughout the product lifetime. When the detector can no longer compensate for contamination and a false alarm becomes imminent, a service alarm is issued.
The detector is fitted with a bayonet fitting, allowing it to be easily installed and removed. If a system fault occurs in the UG8, e.g. if a detector is removed, a yellow LED on the printed circuit board starts to flash and the system fault relay is deactivated. Even if a system fault occurs, it also deactivates other relays.
Finally, the UG8 has various accessories such as the ST280 and ST580 Venturi tubes from Calectro, as well as the extension tube ST-EXTEND. Altogether this provides a comprehensive range of installation options.
