Description
Introduction
The Schischek ExMax + LIN is the perfect solution for situations where a reliable and explosion-proof linear actuator is required. By combining the proven ExMax quarter-turn actuator with the LIN linear unit, a compact, powerful and safe linear actuator is created. This configuration effortlessly converts rotary motion into a linear stroke up to 42 mm, making it ideally suited for 2-way and 3-way valves in ATEX zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
This system therefore meets the strictest requirements for applications in chemical, pharmaceutical, offshore and industrial installations.
Key features
- Explosion-proof: ATEX-certified for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.
- Linear stroke up to 42 mm thanks to the LIN unit, ideal for a variety of valve applications.
- Compatibility: suitable for all ExMax-…-F actuators, both size S and size M
- Fail-safe spring return for critical applications.
- Robust construction: aluminium or RVS housing, IP66 protection.
- Compact design: small dimensions for easy installation, even in confined spaces.
- 100% overload-protected and maintenance-free.

FAQ
What is the advantage of an ExMax + LIN combination?
The combination makes it possible to achieve a reliable and explosion-proof linear movement while retaining the fail-safe properties of the ExMax actuator. This makes the solution ideal for control and safety valves.
For which valves is the LIN unit suitable?
The LIN can be used for both 2-way and 3-way valves, with a stroke length up to 42 mm. This makes it suitable for various HVAC and process installations.
Can I also use the ExMax + LIN outdoors?
Yes, thanks to IP66 protection and the optional RVS version the unit can also be used in aggressive or offshore environments. For outdoor installation a weather shield (WS-S or WS-M) is recommended.
Which accessories are available?
Available accessories include ExBox (Ex-e terminal boxes), ExSwitch (auxiliary switches), weather shields and valve adapters. This allows the system to be fully customized.
What is the maximum force that can be delivered?
Depending on the chosen ExMax actuator, the LIN provides a force from 500 N up to a maximum of 3.000 N [oai_citation:4‡LIN_en.pdf](file-service://file-3n8YVn19N1LtVDkRRJdh5D).

Attention:
The motor stall force is approximately 1.5 to 2 times greater than the nominal force.
Pay attention to the valve dimensions!
The above values are nominal thrusts for actuators with a built-in self-adjusting drive.
Maximum thrusts can reach values up to three to four times higher than table values! Without proper adaptation, much higher peak thrusts may occur, which can cause damage to the specified valve or couplings!
Linear unit, suitable for all ..Max-..-F actuators size S or M
Special versions painted (coated) – ExMax-…-CTS / CTM (size S or M) + LIN-…-CT
- ExMax-…-CTS / CTM: Aluminium housing with seawater-resistant offshore/marine coating, resistant to corrosive and maritime atmospheres, some parts nickel-plated
- LIN-…-CT: Aluminium housing with seawater-resistant offshore/marine coating, resistant to corrosive and maritime atmospheres. Lift rod, connecting parts and screws in RVS (VA)
- Suitable for e.g. offshore or onshore applications
Valve adaptation / required accessories
To select the correct valve adapter and obtain accurate pricing information the following data are required:
1. Valve manufacturer
2. Valve type:
3. Nominal valve size (diameter) DN
For adaptations that are still designed by Schischek, these data are minimum requirements. To design new adaptations we need additional details of the valve body as well as drawings.
In the purchase order you must order both components – actuator + adapter
