Description
UG-5-AFR-24V
Optical Duct Smoke Detector with Automatic Sensitivity Adjustment, Service Alarm, and Built-in Control Unit, 24V | UG-5-AFR-24V
Description UG-5-AFR-24V
Uniguard is designed to detect smoke in ventilation ducts and combines a smoke Detector and an adapter system where both the tube and housing are specially designed for optimal airflow through the smoke Detector.
The UG-5 can be installed on any side of the duct in four different positions: 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°. Patented.
Relays:
- Two alarm relays for controlling fire dampers, stopping fans, or activating acoustic and visual alarms, etc.
- One service alarm relay to notify you when maintenance is required before a false alarm occurs.
- One system fault relay that indicates a malfunction in the smoke Detector circuit.
- One Low-Flow relay indicating that the airflow in the duct is low or the UG-5 is installed in an unsuitable position on the duct.
The Detector contains an intelligent control circuit. This circuit adjusts the sensitivity to provide optimal function throughout the Detector’s lifetime. When the control circuit reaches the maximum sensitivity compensation for contamination, a service alarm is indicated.
The Detector has a bayonet lock to simplify mounting and dismounting.
Installation
To ensure that the airflow through the adapter is representative of the airflow in the ventilation duct, install the Detector in a location where flow meters, etc., are normally mounted. See our installation instructions.</ p>
The venturi tube is made of aluminum and can easily be shortened to the diameter of the duct. Hole diameter is 38 mm. For insulated or small round ducts (100-150 mm) – use the mounting bracket; the hole diameter then is 51 mm.
Upon completion of the installation, the Detector must be tested. This can be done with smoke or a suitable test spray, for example, SOLO A5 (from Calectro). Use the test hole on the cover. Remember to replace the plastic plug after testing.
Note: For installation outdoors or in cold attics, etc., where condensation is possible, the Detector must be insulated from ambient air, for instance with our weatherproof housing UG-COVER-75. In such cases, it must be marked with a sign “Concealed Detector”.
