The Calectro UG8-E-230 is an optical duct smoke detector with a service alarm and an integrated control unit, 230V. Free rotation in any direction.
Description
The UG8 Uniguard is designed to detect smoke in ventilation ducts and consists of a smoke detector and a specially designed duct housing that ensures optimal airflow past the detector.
The UG8 can be mounted on either side of the duct. The smoke sensor is supplied with a rotatable mounting section which, together with a chosen Venturi tube, is attached to the ventilation duct. Thanks to the applied “FLOW arrow”, correct installation is straightforward: the arrow must match the airflow direction in the duct.
The patented detector housing – with cable entries and a reset button – is rotatable in any direction so it always fits the characteristics of the installation site. Both the cover of the detector chamber and the cover of the connection chamber are equipped with quick locks for fast access.
Relay functionality:
• Two alarm relays to, for example, control fire dampers or to start/stop fans
• A service relay and a low-airflow relay, which indicate when maintenance is required to prevent false alarms, or when the airflow in the duct is insufficient, or the UG8 is incorrectly positioned
• A system fault relay, which reports faults in the smoke detection circuit
The detector features an intelligent supervision system that continuously monitors and adjusts sensitivity for optimal operation throughout its service life. When the detector can no longer compensate for contamination and a false alarm threshold is approached, a service alarm is generated.
Thanks to the bayonet mounting, the detector is easy to install and remove. In the event of a system fault, for example if a detector is removed, a yellow LED on the PCB flashes and the system fault relay is deactivated. In that case, other relays are also disabled.
The UG8 is compatible with Calectro’s ST280 and ST580 Venturi tubes, as well as the extension tube ST-EXTEND.
